Milpitas Sports Center did it again. They beat Team Sausalito 9:3. (7:2 in singles and 2:1 in doubles) MSC was four for four for the Inter-Club Challenges. (Twice against Concord club, once against Silicon Valley Table Tennis Club, and this) It proved again that un-rated players are always dangerous. Paul, who just came back to play table tennis after a 20-year break, won two out three of his singles matches. However, the MVP of this Inter-Club Challenge should go to Nelson Yu. He won all his singles and one of doubles matches. Although MSC won fairly convincingly at 9:3, they were whipped by Peter and Paul in doubles. It was probably the most lob-sided match of the day. The score definitely showed how bad it was. (depending on whose talking) According to Paul, Peter and Paul have been playing doubles together for a while. I guess it paid off. They ripped the ball at wide angles continuously. Nelson and Bruce simply could not return them. All matches played had umpires, thanks to Gary Alcares and Peter Tsang. Gary provided the two scoreboards used at the US Nationals and personally invited the Sausalito club. Both teams received prizes provided by Lily Yip and MSC. (racket cases, balls, and ball holders) All in all, all participants had fun.
